Paul Fischer, President @ Cloud on Purpose

I started Cloud on Purpose because I believe “how matters.” How you treat people—your clients and employees—matters. How you consult—when designing and delivering solutions—matters.

The past decade in consulting has taught me that the industry is broken and lacks integrity.

Consultants are treated like cogs in the machine and expected to bill as many hours as possible. They are told when they can and cannot take vacation.

Clients’ budget are taken advantage of in name of profit.

Small firms aren’t much better as you have to do so much of the leg work you might as well start your own company.

I decided there had to be better way—a way to do work you're proud of, with integrity, and still have the freedom to live life on your own terms (and somehow have health insurance too). It all starts with having the company owned by people who do the work—but doing that together instead of independently. A collective if you will.

Our Operating Model and Growth Plans are a bit different.

We aren’t backed by private equity or investors. I’m just a guy who has been passionate about implementing Salesforce for nearly the past decade and half. I have a small book of clients that I’m working to grow. But I know my limitations, and that I can’t do it alone. I also know the power of scale and having a recognizable brand with both clients and Salesforce.

Being an owner means you’d get a stake in the firm’s net profits. And I’m not talking about a paltry stock match, but real ownership. It means a seat at the table of quarterly partner meetings, voting on keys decisions, and the ability to impact direction.

We can structure ownership either as a direct K1 Partnership or via an equity program through Carta for those outside of California. I have experience with both from owning parts of real estate properties in the past.

Beyond a stake in the profits there is a variable compensation piece. It works like you might expect. If you bring your clients under the Cloud on Purpose roof it’s only fair that you keep what you earn. In addition, we keep your clients and projects private unless you’d like to invite another co-owner or trusted development resource from our pool in.

We also have a salesperson who brings leads and projects in the door for you. As you might expect the margin may be a bit less since we have to pay the salesperson upon winning the project. But it sure beats trying to do everything yourself.

That’s the gist of it. There are more details I’d be happy to share in a call.
